FOX and MY DAMN CHANNEL

Fox has chosen us as one of their premium distribution partners for original web series they've produced, and we plan to start developing and producing original new series together as well.

We're launching today with a series called, "The Iceman Chronicles." Think 'Twin Peaks' - with more murder - but funny. It's a dark comedy that follows coroner/veterinarian Russell Coldpalm (played by David Fickas) as he navigates the sins and secrets of Blythe, Arizona.  Coldpalm and a motley cast of locals discover horrible truths through a series of comedic twists on the hunt for a mysterious serial killer...the Iceman. The show comes from Drama 3/4, the creative minds behind MSN's "Mr. Robinson's Driving School," VH1's "I Hate My 30's," and web shows including "Anakin Auditions" and "No Football for Old Men."

We started My Damn Channel in the wake of an earlier round of big corporate layoffs as traditional media tried to wrap its arms around the intense insurgency of online video.

Many major media companies took a shot at chasing YouTube's brass ring, but they couldn't ride their horses fast enough to get into the lead ahead of all the upstart brands racing onto the field.

We ran fast in our first year. Some of our best competitors like Super Deluxe didn't make it. We loved their work.  We stayed determined to keep costs low, but still bring the best talent - treat them well - and let them deliver quality, original web video which is getting seen by an audience growing faster by the second.

In the past 24 hours, we've had the #1 video on all of YouTube - thanks to Big Fat Brain, creators of "You Suck at Photoshop" and their NEW web series, "Agency of Record."

This week, TIME Magazine honored us in their Top 10 Everything of 2008 - twice!  They put YSAP in the Top 10 TV Episodes of the year next to Lost, Mad Men, 30 Rock & Colbert. And they honored Sir Harry Shearer for one of his Katie Couric Open-Mic Moments that we call "Found Objects." 

Maria on our team just told me we passed 42 million total views yesterday.

This week, we added Suhaila Suhimi to lead the advertising team bringing more top brands in to sponsor all of our new programming.

BUMPING INTO GENIUSES

"I can't be objective about the music business. I know it hurt a lot of people; artists were often lied to, royalties weren't always paid, bad people sometimes got promoted while good ones were fired. Drugs, misogyny, and death stalked rock and roll. A lot of shlock was produced. A lot of pretense masked shallow, materialistic quests for fame and money. It's not like I don't know these things and it's not that I mind writing about them. It's just that the part of the music business I know best, the rock and roll business, also produced and popularized a lot of music that I love. And it gave me and a lot of my friends a place in the world."

Bumping Into Geniuses: My Life Inside The Rock and Roll Business is the new book by Danny Goldberg.

I bumped into Danny yesterday morning during a visit to 101.9 WRXP in NY. REAL rock radio is back on the dial and on the internetsss. Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram host the morning show at RXP and showed their true colors by inviting guests including Danny Goldberg, Patrick Wilson from Weezer, and Ray LaMontagne.

BAD times are always GOOD for Rock & Roll. Maybe the new, great depression opens the door for earth-skakin' new sounds.

Yesterday reinforced the power of the music to bring songfilled souls together. And Danny Goldberg inspired me to go buy his book.

THE NIGHT FEED for real

NEW YORK, July 31, 2008 - My Damn Channel (www.MyDamnChannel.com), the entertainment studio and new media platform, today celebrates its first birthday by revealing year one statistics on traffic and revenue, and announcing new community features and a full development slate.

My Damn Channel has built a brand that empowers professional filmmakers, actors, comedians, musicians, and athletes to co-produce, mass distribute and monetize original, short-form video.

My Damn Channel has produced over 325 original videos viewed over 29 million times in the past year. The company created a studio, a destination site, syndication network, and branded entertainment exchange to match advertisers with top talent who deliver high-quality, episodic content.  

Today, the channel celebrates itself and the first 9 channels co-created with Harry Shearer, David Wain, Big Fat Brain, Don Was, A.D. Miles, Andy Milonakis, Grace Helbig, Steve Kerper, and Coolio.

A low-cost model eliminates multi-layered management tiers found in traditional media and puts artists in direct contact with their fans. •    “My Damn Channel Music Nights presented by SoCo” – Grace Helbig, host of the channel’s “Daily Grace” hits the highway this summer with Southern Comfort for 12 weeks of programming starring fans and artists including Common, The Black Keys, and The Roots, filming in NY, CA, AZ, and WI.

•    Harry Shearer – the Sultan of political satire has just released a new album, “Songs of the Bushmen.” New videos from the album include “Turd Blossom Special” (Shearer as Karl Rove) and “Gym Buds” (Judith Owen as Condeleeza Rice). Shearer continues to produce “Found Objects,” featuring news anchors and newsmakers in unscripted moments captured on film.

•    Don Was – the creator and host of My Damn Channel’s Wasmopolitan Cavalcade of Recorded Music is producing a second season of all new music. Don and his Cavalcade just filmed over 55 musicians live in Detroit at the “Concert of Colors” diversity festival.
