It's WAINing again - Wainy Days shoots Season 5

Ken Marino, Jon Stern, Rob Barnett, David Wain

WAINY DAYS first launched on day 1 of My Damn Channel: 7/31/07. David and I knew each other a lil bit from the salad daze at MTV. He saw the future when he and the Michaels created STELLA shorts...back when it took a year and half to buffer a 3-minute clip.

I promised David he could do the original series he wanted without the typical network interruptus, "notes" and meddling. We'd deliver cash, massive promotion and distribution to reach his fans and make WAINY DAYS the premiere series of our (almost) TV network of the future.

David pitched a show where his character would make out with the hottest women in Hollywood and have every date go horribly wrong. I said 'yes.' We locked the right price for the first season of 10 episodes. And I asked David to promise to cast this show as well as he casted his latest feature film back then, THE TEN.

32 official episodes, 4 years, and 4 seasons later, you've watched and shared WAINY DAYS to make it the longest-running, most-popular comedy series in the new world.

This week, we're filming an all-new season 5 with another killer cast including David & Ken Marino, who co-wrote the new episodes and Exec Produces with David & our beloved series producer, Jon Stern. This year's cast also features Steven Weber, Zandy Hartig, Jorma Taccone, Erinn Hayes, Lizzy Caplan, n' more.

We have a brand new sponsor: FIAT !

We'll post more updates and pics and announce a premiere date sooner than you think.

While I have you for this too-happy-too-long post: please n'joy the trailer for David's brand new feature film: WANDERLUST - opening FEB 24 2012 !

Thanks, Just For Laughs

We're still recovering from a raucous weekend in Montreal.  We were there for Just For Laughs and much laughter was had, indeed.

There was an amazing speech from Marc Maron that The Comic's Comic has in its entirety:

Fearless leader/Founder/CEO Rob Barnett spoke on a bunch of panels:

We gave away a bunch of t-shirts:

And then David Wain got a bunch of his friends together and they did a live Wainy Days show:

So, you know, good times.  Thanks to Jeffrey Ross, Garfunkle and Oates, CEO Rob Barnett, Rob Corddry, Zandy Hartig, Jon Stern, Reggie Watts (unpictured) and, most of all, David Wain for making Montreal a little more Wainy for one weekend.

Gigi Talk On Telephone?

It's Wednesday, and that means there's another episode of Gigi for you.  And what is that foreign rapscallion up to this time?  Well today, Gigi will be dabbling in the game of telephone and the game of love - though, I'm not sure if he knows he is doing either.  What a lovable guy!

So dig in and check out this slam-bang episode!  And if you're new to the series, watch how it all began HERE.

O-kay?  O-KAY!!!

"Wainy Days" - Kissed Again

There'd be NO My Damn Channel if David Wain hadn't said YES to being one of the first artists that launched with us here on "day one" (7/31/07) with the very first episode of "Wainy Days" starring David & Elizabeth Banks.

4 seasons and almost 4 years later - there are 32 awesome episodes (so far) and this morning another well-deserved kiss:

"Wainy Days" has just been selected as an Official Honoree for Comedy Series in the 15th annual Webby Awards.

Congratulations to David, to our most awesome Producer, Jon Stern, and to every collaborator and fan supporting one of the best comedy series ever.

We promise MORE...and work has just begun on a "Wainy Days" DVD coming out later this year near the release of David's new feature film comedy, "Wanderlust."

Gigi goes all in

Got cash??? In this episode, Gigi finds himself in a high stakes game of poker with a trio of new "friends." Like the card shark that he is, he's down to go all in. Watch it here.

If you're new to Gigi, you can catch up on Episode 1 and Episode 2.

New episodes every Wednesday!

A Holy Quadrinity - Josh, Jon, Matt, and Trey

Holy snaps! Check out our boy, Josh Gad - star of our upcoming series Gigi: Almost American, "on" The Daily Show last night! Okay, so Matt and Trey from South Park were really the guests; there to talk about their new Broadway musical The Book Of Mormon. But Josh was about as on as you can be without being there in person (check him out behind Matt and Trey, singing like a champ). Plus he's been on The Daily Show as a correspondent so no need to split hairs here anyway.

Matt and Trey got some pretty high praise from their Comedy Central counterpart. I won't spoil what Mr. Jon Stewart had to say, you can check it out for yourself. Actually, you need to hear it for yourself because it'd probably sound like I was making it up if I told you because when I say "high praise", I mean it was downright biblical (pun intended, suckas!).

Episodes of Gigi: Almost American launch 3/23, but you can get your fix now with the trailer and promos NOW.

My Damn Channel Sees God and Others at "The Book of Mormon"

Jesse Cowell (My Damn Channel Director of Content),                      Rob Barnett, Josh Gad
Josh Gad, Rob Barnett (My Damn Channel Founder/CEO)

We saw God last night (and others) at "The Book of Mormon" - the funniest, most original musical comedy on Broadway.

The show stars Josh Gad, our My Damn Channel brother & hero & the star of our newest comedy series, "Gigi: Almost American."

We're previewing Gigi now, created by Josh and The Lost Nomads. Our series launches 3/23. New episodes every Wednesday on My Damn Channel.

I decided not to read all the Mormon press or ask Josh all about the show before experiencing it fresh. This was such an orgasmic comedic masterpiece. Get tickets and see this for yourself. And we'll buy more and give them away like Santa, or the other guy.

"Mormon" was created by South Park's Matt Stone & Trey Parker with Avenue Q's Robert Lopez. We had insane comic heaven hangtime during and after the show with them all last night... along with The Pope: Jon Stewart; "Mormon" producer and show business Midas: Scott Rudin; the Head of Comedy Central and MTV Networks Entertainment Group: Doug Herzog; Iconic Legends Mike Nichols and Angelica Huston; our friends and heroes from IFC: Dan Pasternack & Debbie DeMontreux; and we even met Spock: Zachary Quinto

"The Pope" proves every time year after year that he's one of the most generous humans in the game. We were so stunned to see Mike Nichols, I couldn't imagine lame bla-bla and went to a spontaneous salute - which he returned!

We capped off the night and the cocktails with da man of the year, Josh Gad, eating 2am style pizza reminding us all of why we love the voodoo we do. God bless.

Hall Pass Pass

Posted in Matt Warren with tags jason sudeikis, hall pass, owen wilson, david wain, wainy days, snl on 3/4/2011 7:38:22 AM by Matt Warren

The new Farrelley Bros. comedy Hall Pass was the #1 movie in the country last week, and much of the credit can be placed on the broad, heartland-handsome shoulders of co-star Jason Sudeikis.  Not surprising, as the man’s talents are legion: one-time Blue Man Group wannabe, dater of Hollywood starlets, George Wendt’s nephew, etc.  And don’t sleep on SNL, where he portrays a wide variety of characters ranging from the pathetic to the nettlesome, including one-half of both Jon Bovi, the world’s worst Bon Jovi tribute band, and the titular “Two A-Holes.”

But by far, Sudeikis’s most daunting role to date has been as none other than our very own David Wain, wherein attacks the role of My Damn Channel’s favorite lovelorn man-child with the kind of method intensity not seen since Ben Kingsley cinched up his cloth diaper to play mankind’s other great savior, Mahatma Ghandi.  Maybe this Believer article was the key to his research.  Then again, maybe there’s a little David Wain in all of us (gross).

Michael Ian Black series shoot today

Posted in Michael Ian Black with tags Michael Ian Black, My Damn Channel, The State, Stella, Twitter, WitStream on 11/18/2010 5:00:03 AM by Rob Barnett

It's 5a in San Francisco. We've got a non-slouchy 5:30a crew call for a full day of shooting in a city we love.

Michael Ian Black is finally starring in his own My Damn Channel series. We're so happy our face muscles hurt. You'll see why when our show goes live in December.

Our producer is our mega mainman Jon Stern, who gifts you Wainy Days, Horrible People, Childrens Hospital and everything we love.

Michael Ian Black is the kind of Slash King we worship: comedian/actor/writer/director/twitter lord.

His body o' work creates a major fanbase of people we want to hang out with. Evidence includes the genius magic of The State, Stella, Michael and Michael Have Issues and more. And Michael is Chief Content Officer of a co. we're co-conspiring with now...please partake in the wonders of the 24-hour live comedy ticker, WitStream. Ta da.
