My Damn Channel Director of Production: Melissa Schneider

Meet Melissa! Melissa Schneider is our new Director of Production, joining the My Damn Channel family with the experience, energy and cred we need to help produce over 30 new original series in the months ahead. She's also the lead producer for our new 2012 mega show with YouTube...My Damn Channel: Live

Melissa expands our management team in the NY office where Jesse Cowell (Director of Content) and Molly Templeton (Director of Talent & Audience Development) work with Rob Barnett (Founder/CEO) to oversee more killer original comedy and music than legally allowed on the Interweb.

"Melissa brings awesome experience, talent and spirit to our team as we prep to make 2012 the year My Damn Channel delivers more new original programming than ever before," said Rob Barnett. He added, "She's developed and produced over 30 original digital series and branded entertainment campaigns and over 30 independent music videos, commercials, and short films. She worked for David Chase for god's sake!"

Melissa graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and went on to work for The Public Theater / NY Shakespeare Festival during George C. Wolfe’s tenure. She left the theater to work in (wait for it) The Sopranos...in the writers' office for creator David Chase, and writers: Terence Winter (creator, "Boardwalk Empire"), Robin Green & Mitchell Burgess (creators, "Blue Bloods") and Matthew Weiner (creator, "Mad Men").

Melissa went digital...producing online content for Macy’s, XBOX, Vuguru, Nickelodeon, Swanson, Verizon FiOS, CJP Digital, and Summit Entertainment to name a few. She was the Director of Production at Digital Broadcasting Group (DBG) in New York City, where developed and produced digital series and branded entertainment campaigns.

More announcements on our new series, stars and launch info for My Damn Channel: Live hits this space soon.

YouTube and My Damn Channel: Breaking News

Today, Google made a major announcement setting the stage for new programming on YouTube. We're honored that My Damn Channel is working to create a new YouTube original channel as part of this initiative.

We launched www.MyDamnChannel.com back in 2007 - dedicated to giving the most talented people in entertainment a studio and distribution platform where they can co-create, produce and showcase the best original video programming. We've made thousands of videos and many of the most watched and awarded comedy series like “Wainy Days,” “You Suck at Photoshop,” “Horrible People,” “Daily Grace” and political satire from the great Harry Shearer. We've been supported by major advertisers who partner with us to reach engaged, loyal fans online with media campaigns and branded entertainment that break through the noise.

In addition to running our own site, we've always syndicated to other outlets and YouTube has been a powerful partner since we launched our first channel there in 2007.

In February, 2012, we’re expanding our YouTube relationship to give you MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE: a hosted, 30-minute, weekly comedy show featuring world premieres of our original videos and series. We'll bring you stars you love and new talent too.

MY DAMN CHANNEL LIVE will also invade your screens daily with 10-minute, interactive blasts from our host. You'll see our new live show on a dedicated channel on My Damn Channel, on a new channel on YouTube, and in syndication.

We'll keep you plugged in on the birth of our new baby with fresh updates about all the artists we’re signing and the new series we’re producing from now 'til launch. I want to give HUGE thanks to everyone who's supported My Damn Channel. A few short years ago, Warren Chao and I were two crazy fools with a power point presentation and a dream. The fact that one of the most revolutionary companies in the world just tapped us for their new adventure blows us away and we're counting on all of you to be watching.

Looking for Grace or Molly? Well, I'm Maria.

(Stuff You're Looking For On This Blog)

You guys search for a lot of info about Daily Grace and Mememolly. And that's cool.

But I'm not Grace or Molly. Sorry. My name is Maria.

(Sorry. Not blonde.)

I am My Damn Channel's "Social Media Voice," which means I write My Damn Channel's Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and House Blog, among other things. Yes, it's my fault that the photoshop is bad and the jokes aren't funny and no one comments. So, if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm pretty good at my job.

What other kinds of things would you like to see here? What other things would you like to know? Tell me. Let's TweetTumblFaceBlogSquare together. Leave some comments. Talk to me on Tumblr and Twitter and Facebook and stuff. I posted a picture of myself with a light switch, for God's sake. If that doesn't scream "you can talk to me" I don't know what does.

Congrats to Smiley Guy Studios!

Congratulations to Smiley Guy Studios!  They've won a development deal with us after winning a pitch competition at Just For Laughs in Montreal.

We love LA!

Anyone happen to be at the Dodgers-Diamondbacks game last Friday night at Dodger Stadium?  Did you see our name up in lights? (Yes, we know what attendance is like these days at Dodger Stadium, so we're going to guess that not many of you did.)

We're in LA!

We're here to take the winners of the Versailles Sweepstakes to meet Patricia Heaton and David Hunt!

We're using exclamation marks at the end of each sentence because we really are THAT EXCITED about everything!

Stay tuned for more pictures of the winners and their prize...

The Comic's Comic joins My Damn Channel!

We're so happy to announce that The Comic's Comic is the newest part of the My Damn Channel Blog Network!

Editor Sean L. McCarthy has been working the comedy beat for years, becoming the definitive guide to the best comedy and comedians in the world.

You can read the full press release here, but you should really just go to TheComicsComic.com and subscribe and bookmark it and make it your homepage already.  Unless your homepage is already MyDamnChannel.com, in which case... uh... SWEET.

Slacktory.com

Today is a new day in the world of My Damn Channel because we officially launch the My Damn Channel Blog Network with Slacktory (http://slacktory.com).

Slacktory is helmed by one of our favorite internet users, Nick Douglas, former editor of Valleywag and Urlesque, where he helped us navigate the vast internet with humor and wit.  We were so impressed by him, naturally we stalked followed Nick on Twitter and Tumblr and when he mentioned briefly that he was looking for a new challenge, we pounced.  Social Media: it works!

(Nick!)

Now Nick and his merry band of writers are all part of the Damn Family.  We always wanted more brothers and sisters, but Mom said "over her dead body," so this is, like, the best kind of compromise.  We get some new playmates and Mom's still alive.

Make sure you visit Slacktory.com daily to find out what shenanigans that crazy internet has gotten itself into this time!  Today, we have stories about Jessi Slaughter, a Harry Potter/Book of Mormon parody, a visit to Jack In The Box with Tom Waits and a weekly column from Mark Zuckerberg that Mark Zuckerberg has nothing to do with at all.

But, don't worry! We haven't forgotten our online video roots! Slacktory will curate, remix and mashup videos at MyDamnChannel.com/Slacktory.  Our first Slacktory video has cats, babies and Hitler explaining "Planking," so, you know, there's something for everyone!

Slacktory is just the beginning.  We're coming for you, Internet.  Please continue to do ridiculous things so we always have something to talk about.

Harry Shearer - Found Objects - Diane Sawyer

Posted in Found Objects, Harry Shearer with tags Harry Shearer, Found Objects, Diane Sawyer, Joplin, Missouri, SNL, My Damn Channel on 6/30/2011 4:10:57 AM by Rob Barnett

Harry Shearer was the first artist signed to My Damn Channel when we launched four years ago in 2007.

Harry first encountered satellite news feeds when he worked at SNL. He's fascinated with the contents of videos that you normally never get to see and we call these clips: Found Objects.

We just uploaded a new Found Object on My Damn Channel, Diane Sawyer: "I Have Nothing."

Here's the link.

Harry writes, "Diane Sawyer is on the scene after a tornado has ripped through Joplin, anchoring a live broadcast from the city. But it's not easy for her."

He adds, "This is a portrait of a fly-in anchor covering a disaster. Diane may be Diane, but this is pretty much what you get when you send high-priced anchor talent into a place where everything has fallen apart and nothing works. The quote, 'I have nothing,' of course, should more appropriately be coming from a tornado victim.'"

Welcome Back (Big News!)

Welcome back from another successful Memorial Day weekend. Whether you're still a bit hungover, sunburned, or just plain tired, your problems don't compare to the emotional mess that is Versailles - Episode #5.

William H. Macy tries to set the record straight about Evelyn (Patricia Heaton) and Sara (Martha MacIsaac) explains why the set of "You're In Sports" is a perfect place for her.

THIS JUST IN - Versailles is featured in a major story in USA Today (page 3D). Click here.

Texans Revolt Against TSA Tyranny, Storm Capitol

Harry Shearer is one of the most conscious, confrontational, comedic voices in America.

Harry has been creating original videos on My Damn Channel since we launched in July, 2007.

Search through Harry's channel and you'll find videos that make you laugh, dance and think about issues that keep appearing in headline news: waterboarding, church scandals, and unnatural disasters.

Harry's latest video is "Touch My Junk" and TSA groping is back in the news in a bad way on this Memorial Day Weekend:
