Wet Hot American Decade

People forget how much the world has changed in the last decade.  Blogs, social networking, web video.  All of these post-Y2K innovations have radically altered the way we interact with the world—particularly the world of entertainment.  You may not remember, but back before there was such a thing as forward-thinking online content providers, there were literally only two ways to entertain oneself: by 1) burning the effigy of a rival tribal leader, or 2) firing up the ol' top-loading VCR to watch a battered VHS copy of David Wain's cult summer camp spoof Wet Hot American Summer.

Yes, long before Wainy Days was even a twinkle in the director's eye, Wet Hot showcased Wain's unique brand of unpredictable, absurdist humor, and featured a cast that now seems like a murderers’ row of the most important comedic performers of the early 21st century.

(Leslie Knope [L], and Johnny Limitless [R])

Some, like Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks, have turned up on Wainy Days; while others, like A.D. Miles, have gone on to create their very own (excellent) series like Horrible People.

To celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary, David Wain & Co. have mounted a nation-wide tour, featuring screenings, Q&A's, and live shows.  To wit, here's David Wain and Wet Hot co-star Jo Lo Truglio revisiting some alternate titles for the film.  And if you're jonesing for even more of Wain live, don't forget to check out the Wainy Days live show at this year's Just For Laughs.  And remember: if you wanna smear mud on your ass, smear mud on your ass, just be honest about it.

DADDY-O DAY

DAMN, NEWS (letter)

ROB & MARIA in WAINY DAYS

That's David Wain & Amy Miles in the new episode of WAINY DAYS: "Rochelle" is a 2-part, rock opera.

Part 1 premieres today - Part 2 premieres tomorrow.

"Rocky Horror Wainy Show" !!

It's the 30th episode of one of the best comedy series inside your computer. Big thanks to David Wain for always delivering for his fans...and to Jon Stern - the producer of WAINY DAYS & everything else we love like HORRIBLE PEOPLE, CHILDREN's HOSPITAL  n' more.

When we started WAINY DAYS, I promised David he could do the exact work he wanted - without any suits or execs in the way. This was the first time we ever even visited the set - as a going away present to Maria Diokno, one of our My Damn Channel originators.

When Maria & I got to the shoot, they cast us as extras seated right behind David & Michelle Federer (from Broadway's "Wicked").  Maria is an actress who's done this before - I'm horrible, but it's a thrill to be 'in' our longest-running series.

Wainy Days is produced by Jonathan Stern.

"
I love that the world keeps wanting to follow my pathetic (albeit fictional) quest to meet women,” says Wain.  “As long as the audience demands it, I will continue to hire actresses to make out with me and put it on the web."

“If My Damn Channel is a new world version of an old NBC, then David Wain would definitely be our ‘Seinfeld,’” says Rob Barnett, Founder/CEO. “David continues to earn all the accolades that ‘Wainy Days’ has won by topping himself every season. His series turns sexual angst into uniquely twisted comedy.”

AGENCY of RECORD

Halloween marked the season 2 finale of YOU SUCK AT PHOTOSHOP.

Over 400,000 views so far - close to 1000 comments webwide debating the appearance of Dane Cook, whether Donnie is Dane, if both are dead, what David Cross has to do with the whole thing, and if YSAP is really gone (again?).

Feels like months since 10/31: we elected OBAMA - the economy turned the clocks back to 1933 - and Jetsons' flying cars still seem another thousand years away.

Fear not: the creators of YSAP open up a new chapter in the wonderful "WORLD of WEBNDER"

Adobe presents a BIG FAT BRAIN film

starring Troy Hitch & Matt Bledsoe

produced by Amy Austin

YSAP is nominated twice by the WEBBY AWARDS for Best Comedy Series and for Best How-To Series. 7 WEBBY nods in all, for our artists & our site.

From Genesis to Revelation & from “YSAP” to Sn4tchbuck3r’s Second Chance
